Ed Cohn 1925 - 2012
Devoted jazz fan and longtime Tucson Jazz Society member Ed Cohn has passed away.
Ed was a dedicated TJS volunteer for many years. Always low key and unassuming, he was the one who arrived hours before every TJS concert to set up the ticket tables and be sure everything was working properly before the doors opened and ticket sales began. Then Ed would take his place at the door to welcome concertgoers, check tickets and help guests to their seats. After the show he was there to get everything packed up and taken off to be ready for the next concert.
Ed’s favorite style of jazz was traditional New Orleans-flavored Dixieland. But he would always volunteer to help out at every concert, no matter what kind of band was up on stage. Over the years, he became a TJS tradition himself. His presence will be missed.
The family chose to have a private funeral service, so TJS will host a memorial celebration for Ed Cohn at one of the spring jazz concert series. The family has requested that any tribute to Ed should be a donation to the Tucson Jazz Society. Contributions may be mailed to:
